The Tennessee Hospitality Political Action Committee (TnHPAC) is an unincorporated, non-profit organization supported by the collective interest and generosity of hospitality industry professionals and related industry friends.

TnHPAC's mission is to help elect qualified individuals to the Tennessee State Legislature and Governor's Office who recognize the importance of the hospitality industry to Tennessee's economy and who will give our concerns a fair hearing.

Through the participation of members of the Tennessee Hospitality Association (TnHA), TnHPAC is now the 9th largest business PAC in the state according to "The Tennessean."  This strength has provided the hospitality industry with an influential voice at the State Capitol.  However, each year - especially in election years - TnHPAC distributes tens of thousands of dollars to candidates for statewide offices, so we need your continued support.

The contributions made by TnHPAC to these candidates are the first crucial steps in the political process that allows TnHA to effectively represent the collective interests of the hospitality industry in Tennessee.

State law precludes corporate contributions; however, non-corporate entities, including partnerships, LLC's, and PLLC's, as well as individuals may make contributions.  All contributions to TnHPAC are voluntary and are NOT tax deductible for federal income tax purposes.

TnHA has established a Government Relations budget line item that will accept corporate donations.  These donations will be used for Government Relations expenses that are NOT contributions to political candidates.  Such expenses include those for lobbyist fees and special events.

The American Hospitality Association has established HOTELPAC to address the federal and national political and government relations activities.

Who is a member of TnHPAC?

Membership of TnHPAC includes all contributors to the political action committee.  You do not have to be a member of TnHA to be a member of or a contributor to TnHPAC.

How is TnHPAC managed?

TnHPAC and TnHA operate independently with each having its own board of directors.  However, the two organizations work very closely together on all issues concerning the General Assembly.

TnHPAC has a board of directors and is chaired by a past president of TnHA.  Members include volunteer members of the board of directors and any other interested members of TnHA.

The CEO of TnHA and his/her representative attends all TnHPAC board meetings and services as Treasurer.

When are TnHPAC meetings?

Meetings of TnHPAC and the Government Relations Committee are held in conjunction with the quarterly meetings of the TnHA board of directors.  A special meeting may be called at any time, as long as the membership is notified at least 15 days in advance.  Government Relations Committee meetings can be held with advanced notice in order to address any official position of TnHA regarding any urgent issues that may arise.

How do I contribute to TnHPAC?

TnHPAC funds support campaigns for candidates that are supportive of Tennessee's hospitality industry.  However, state law precludes corporate contributions to candidate campaigns.  Non-corporate entities, including partnerships, LLC's, and PLLC's, as well as individuals may make contributions to TnHPAC.
